Bleg: Help me find a housemate!
I'm spreading the word far and wide! It's tricky to look for a housemate from 10,000 miles away. But surely some of you intrepid readers know someone looking for nice, reasonably-priced housing the Bay Area.

Housemate needed for two-bedroom, one-bath duplex with good light and hardwood floors, near El Cerrito Plaza BART. Eat-in kitchen and living room are on the first floor, bedrooms and bath on the second. Available room is large, 15 x 11, and gets lots of afternoon sun. Backyard with organic garden, ready for Spring planting. Washer and dryer in garage, with plenty of storage space.
Walking distance to Trader Joe's and just about everything else you could need at El Cerrito Plaza, also walking distance to shops and restaurants on Solano Ave. On the bike path, it's a 20-minute ride to campus and 15 minutes to downtown Berkeley, easy access to SF via BART, Solano Avenue is a 20-minute walk.
The ideal roommate would be neat, responsible, respectful, friendly, communicative, gainfully employed/financially solvent, quiet though social, non-smoker. It would be great if you are vegetarian, or mostly so. I'm allergic to cats. A dog may be negotiable with the landlord.
I have lived here and loved it for the past three years. My housemate L is moving to Eureka to begin a new job at the end of March. I am currently in Asia for dissertation research, and have sublet my room to J, an art therapy student at CIIS in SF. We are looking for someone who could move in April 1, subletting L’s room through the summer, through August. You would live with J until the end of May, and then with me when I return from Asia.
There is a strong potential you could continue renting after that, but it would be good for us to get to know each other, since we will not have a chance to meet before you move in.
Rent: $712.50 + $750 deposit (w/dog additional $500) + 1/2 utilities (landlord pays for water, we pay for everything else).
Move in date is April 1st or soon thereafter.
