Bhutan to Bangalore to Bangkok to Brother-san-saka...

This morning, I bid bittersweet goodbye to Bhutan.

By evening, I was in the sulty, mosquito-ridden plains of south India. Tom Friedman said "the world is flat," after visiting Bangalore, and he wasn't kidding. After the crenelated verticality of the Himalayas, it's very odd - and a wee bit panic-inducing - to see a plane with no breaks in it. (On the other hand, being INSIDE a(n) (air)plane with no breaks in it is a very good thing.)

The plan is to be here in India's IT capital for a couple days using the hotel's wireless internet to catch up with email and other internet errands that were all but impossible with Bhutan's sllllllooooooowwwwwww internet speeds. And to re-warm after a long Himalayan winter. And to seek out foods that don't contain potatoes, chilis, cheese and rice. Then I'll take the train to Mysore, where I'll stay for a month to start analyzing my data, and trying to process a very strange six months.

After that, it's back to Bangalore, and then to Bangkok, via Kolkata, and then to Brother-san-saka (aka Tokyo), and then Back to the Bay!
