This lake is just below an airstrip that was built decades ago, against the wishes of the local people, who were concerned that the construction would disturb the local deities. Construction went ahead, but the strong winds and heavy clouds of the mountaintop location prevented the airstrip from ever being used. Revenge of the local deities? Proof of local wisdom? Inattention to meterological realities? In any case, the Indian army now maintains a permanent base at the airstrip to insure that it's not used by any intruders into Bhutan.
