Dzongs in El Paso

Apparently, you don't have to travel halfway around the world to view Bhutanese architecture. My brother has recently alerted me to the existence of buildings modeled after Bhutanese dzongs at the University of Texas, El Paso. The wife of a former dean of UT read an article in National Geographic about Bhutan, and was struck by the similarities between the landscape around El Paso, and that of Bhutan. Several of the oldest university buildings, constructed nearly 100 years ago, were built in the Bhutanese style, and most subsequent buildings have followed suit.

hey, credit was given.

it's important to offer options for people who don't fancy a 20-hour plane ride just to see Bhutanese architecture.
